PHU QUOC FOOD AND DRINK
A pot of rice opened at the table, steam from a cobia hotpot, the first crack of a crab shell: Phu Quoc restaurants do not all offer the same evening. Here is how to choose between a family kitchen, a seafood hall and a coastal dining room, with real places to start.

Load more venuesFor an everyday meal, start in Dương Đông or along Trần Hưng Đạo. For a shared seafood order, choose between town convenience and a Hàm Ninh lunch. The Peppertree at La Veranda and On The Rock at Mango Bay are named coastal alternatives for a meal that deserves more time.
Reviewed:
The shortest useful restaurant list has different kinds of kitchens on it. A cơm niêu restaurant brings hot clay-pot rice and shared savoury dishes. A seafood specialist prices some of its stock by weight and cooks it to order. A resort dining room may build the evening around courses, wine and service. Their bills and pace make sense only within those formats.
Our original dining article points to cơm niêu and family rice meals as the antidote to several days of seafood platters. Start with rice, one braised or roasted main, a vegetable dish and soup. The crisp rice at the bottom of a clay pot is part of the appeal; ordering several full meat plates can bury it beneath an unnecessarily heavy meal.
For two people, a savoury main plus vegetables and a small soup is a sensible starting order, adjusted to the restaurant’s portion sizes. A whole roast duck or a large hotpot belongs to a different scale of meal. Cơm phần usually means an individual serving; a dish pictured beside a rice bowl may still be priced for the table.
Hạnh Nhung Luxury lists its Dương Đông restaurant at 82–84 Đường 30/4 and a separate Hàm Ninh location. The distinction matters when meeting a group or asking a driver for the restaurant. It is a seafood-led option; select the actual branch before discussing a group table or a weighed order.
For another kind of evening, The Peppertree at La Veranda serves French-influenced cooking with island ingredients on the Trần Hưng Đạo coast. On The Rock at Mango Bay is on the Ông Lang shore. These are two different journeys and atmospheres, rather than interchangeable names under a sea-view photograph.
A fixed-price plate is easier to budget than a whole animal weighed at the tank. With the latter, have the chosen animal weighed before preparation and tie that weight to its quoted rate. At resort restaurants, a menu may use thousands of đồng and add service charge and VAT. The Peppertree’s published menu explicitly uses those conventions; the large printed number is not always the final bill.
Dương Đông is easiest when the group wants different cuisines close together. Ông Lang suits a slower garden or coastal meal. Hàm Ninh is an east-coast lunch excursion for crab and seafood. In the south, An Thới’s town kitchens and Sunset Town’s waterfront restaurants serve different evenings: one is everyday town dining, the other fits a promenade or performance.
For children, a cooked fish portion, rice and vegetables can be simpler than shell-on crab for everyone. For a mixed group, add a non-seafood main instead of asking one reluctant diner to build dinner from garnishes. A vegetarian dish, meanwhile, needs its own recipe: fish sauce can already be in a marinade or stock even when the visible ingredients look plant-based.
The Peppertree publishes dinner from 18:00 to 22:00. That is a dinner service, not an all-afternoon drop-in. For a celebration, discuss the table and menu together; a fixed menu takes longer than a rice lunch. At Mango Bay, On The Rock and the separate seasonal Beach Bar should not be treated as the same booking.
Use the directory to find an exact outlet in your area, then read the menu in terms of portion and preparation. A named recommendation here explains a format or a setting; it is not a claim that every listed kitchen serves every dish in this guide. For a crab-focused meal, continue to Seafood; for a quick bowl, try Street Food or Breakfast.
The Peppertree at La Veranda is on the Trần Hưng Đạo coast and publishes 18:00–22:00 dinner service. On The Rock at Mango Bay is an Ông Lang alternative. Choose the part of the island and style of dinner before reserving.
Start with rice, one savoury main, vegetables and a small soup, then adjust to the kitchen’s portion sizes. A menu plate may feed the table, while cơm phần is usually an individual meal.
The operator lists both: 82–84 Đường 30/4 in Dương Đông and a separate Hàm Ninh location. Save the branch before arranging transport or a group meeting.
It depends on the menu. The Peppertree’s published menu quotes thousands of đồng with a 5% service charge and prevailing VAT added. Read the actual restaurant’s price note rather than applying one venue’s convention to every kitchen.
Yes. Rice with braised meat, vegetables and soup, roast duck or grilled young beef gives a different kind of island meal. A smaller seafood portion with rice can also be more satisfying than several rich dishes.
They are neighbouring southern districts with different dining patterns. An Thới has everyday town kitchens; Sunset Town is convenient for the waterfront, bridge and evening programme. Use the exact address for either.
