Full forecast

Arrival, ferries, and everyday transport

The first and last part of a journey often needs different transport from daily island travel.

Airport arrival

Airport to hotel

Taxis, pre-arranged private transfers, and hotel shuttles are the simplest options with luggage.

  • Confirm pickup location
  • Keep the hotel address ready
  • Check whether your hotel offers a shuttle
Sea arrival

Ferries and ports

Most mainland ferries arrive at Bai Vong. Hon Thom is a separate southern-island destination.

  • Check the named arrival port
  • Allow time for onward transport
  • Reconfirm sailings in rough weather
Around the island

Taxi, shuttle, and local routes

Taxis cover the widest area. Resort shuttles and public routes work best when their timetable matches your plan.

  • Save your return address
  • Confirm the final shuttle
  • Do not rely on frequent late-night service

Before every journey

  1. 1Save your destination in Vietnamese and pin it on a map.
  2. 2Confirm price, meter, route, or return terms before departure.
  3. 3Carry water, sun protection, and light rain protection.
  4. 4Avoid unfamiliar rural roads after dark or during heavy rain.
  5. 5Leave extra time for airports, ferries, and hotel transfers.

Transportation questions

[@portabletext/react] Unknown block type "undefined", specify a component for it in the `components.types` prop
Do I need to rent a vehicle in Phu Quoc?
Not always. Taxis and transfers work well for a resort stay or a small number of planned trips. A rental is more useful for experienced drivers planning several distant stops.
Can visitors legally ride a motorbike?
You need a licence and any international permit recognised under Vietnamese rules for the vehicle class. Confirm current requirements and insurance before riding.
What is easiest from Phu Quoc Airport?
A hotel shuttle, metered taxi, or pre-arranged private transfer is usually easiest, especially with luggage or children.
Which port do ferries use?
Many mainland passenger ferries use Bai Vong, but your ticket is the source of truth. Check the port name and arrange onward transport before departure.
Is public transport widely available?
