Phu Quoc Island Boat Tickets: Transfers, Tours and Charters

A mainland fast ferry brings you to Phú Quốc. A boat among the southern islands begins after you are already here. The same word “ticket” can mean a shared excursion, a seat on an agreed transfer or a private charter. Find out which journey is being sold before comparing the price.

For a normal sightseeing day, compare the named island tour first. For a direct island transfer or private boat, agree the boarding point, destination, return and included services with that provider. A southern island boat is not the Hà Tiên or Rạch Giá ferry, and Hòn Thơm park access is a separate component.

BEFORE PAYMENT

The essentials at a glance

Key details to compare before reading the full guide.

Main distinction
An excursion, a direct transfer and a private charter are different purchases.
Boarding
Use the provider’s exact An Thới-area meeting point, not Bãi Vòng by habit.
Return
Agree the return destination and method with the outward journey.

First decide whether you need a tour or transport

A day among the islands and a point-to-point crossing solve different tasks.

A southern island-hopping day combines boat travel, beach time, reef stops and lunch. That is the useful starting point for a first visit. If you want someone to organise the island sequence and activities, compare the tour’s actual itinerary instead of looking for the cheapest isolated sea crossing.

A direct transfer suits a different need: reaching a named island or returning from an arranged stay. A private charter buys the use of a boat for an agreed group and route. Neither label automatically includes a guide, lunch, snorkelling equipment or park admission. The route and services are the product, not the word “boat”.

Read the island names and the time at each stop

The number of islands is less useful than what happens there.

Mây Rút can be a beach-and-lunch stop; Gầm Ghì is commonly discussed as a reef session; Hòn Thơm can add a park or cable component. Those are different uses of a day. A route with more names can give less time in the water or on the sand if transfers fill the gaps. Ask for the actual stop list, including which Mây Rút landing is intended.

For a Hòn Thơm finish, identify whether the product includes park entry and a one-way cable return, a boat return or only a landing. Buying another round-trip cable ticket without reading the boat package can duplicate one leg and still leave the hotel journey unanswered. The cable-ticket guide explains the separate mainland station and park product.

Shared boat or private charter?

Choose the boat format for the group’s pace and boarding needs.

A shared excursion can be good value when its stops already match what you want. A charter gives a group more control over the agreed day, but it does not remove the distance between islands or create unlimited landing access. Name the number of people, proposed stops and time before comparing charter totals.

An open-deck vessel layout: compare seating, shade and boarding when arranging your boat.Partner photo collection

An open-deck sightseeing boat and a speedboat can feel very different when boarding, sitting and moving around. Ask about shade, seating, the step into the boat and how the actual landing works. For someone who needs a stable boarding route, those answers matter more than a promise that the private option is automatically comfortable for everyone.

A meeting point is more precise than “An Thới”

The tour pickup, boat boarding and cable station may be three places.

Use the meeting pin and contact from the provider handling the journey. A hotel pickup can first take you to a different assembly or boarding point; a cable station pin is not a substitute for a boat contact. Keep Bãi Vòng, which serves mainland fast-ferry arrivals, separate from a southern island-tour instruction.

Agree the return when arranging the outward leg: the landing point, the time or contact method, and whether a mainland hotel transfer follows. Do not assume another public boat will be waiting when you decide to leave a small island. If the group separates for an activity, make sure everyone knows which return arrangement they are using.

Count the services around the boat

A low transport price can leave the rest of the outing to arrange.

Compare guide support, lunch, water, snorkelling gear, landing or attraction charges and the road transfer as separate lines. A private boat price may be for the whole vessel, while a shared excursion is usually quoted per participant. Put both on the same group total before deciding which is cheaper.

For the sea leg, wear an appropriately fitted lifejacket and keep a means of contacting help protected from water. Those are practical boating basics reflected in RNLI guidance; they are not a certification of any local vessel. Let the operator’s real conditions decide the day’s route rather than treating a sunny photograph as a sea forecast.

Choose the day before paying for the hull

For most first visits, a clear named excursion is easier to compare.

If you want an island-hopping holiday day, start with the tour guides linked below and compare their itinerary. If you only need an agreed crossing, keep that purchase focused on the route and return. For a private group, describe the beach, reef or meal time you want so the charter discussion starts with an achievable day rather than a list of islands.

Keep the agreed route, inclusions, meeting point and provider contact in one written record. If sea conditions change the trip, that record is the basis for discussing the revised outing with the issuer. No generic mainland ferry timetable can answer the operating plan of your particular island boat.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about routes, ticket formats and using them during your visit.

Is this the same ticket as a Hà Tiên or Rạch Giá ferry?

No. Those bring passengers between the mainland and Phú Quốc. A southern island boat connects stops after you are already on Phú Quốc.

Does an island-boat seat include a guided excursion?

Only if that is what the product sells. A direct transfer, shared tour and private charter can include very different services.

Which pier should I use for a southern boat trip?

Use the exact meeting and boarding point from your provider in the An Thới area. Do not substitute Bãi Vòng or Ga Ánh Dương without that instruction.

Does a Hòn Thơm landing include Aquatopia?

Not by itself. Park admission and any cable return must be named separately in the boat or tour product.

Should I arrange the return before leaving?

Yes. Agree the return destination, timing or contact method with the outward journey, including any road transfer afterwards.

How do I compare charter and shared-boat prices?

Compare the whole-group total for the same route, time, equipment, meals and transfers. A vessel total and a per-person figure are different units.
