Add Hàm Rồng when the boat journey and that specific coast are priorities.

Rạch Vẹm: village life, a nhà bè lunch and the way to Hàm Rồng
Before the starfish photographs, there is a village: boats moving through the bay, nets by the shore and wooden walkways leading towards lunch over the water. Rạch Vẹm is worth seeing with that wider view. Give the village and a nhà bè meal their own time, then make Hàm Rồng a separate boat outing if that is the coast you came to see.

Does this area fit your trip?
Visit Rạch Vẹm for its northern fishing-village setting and seafood platforms. A village-and-lunch outing works by itself; Hàm Rồng is an additional boat destination. Khánh Hào publishes a receiving route, restaurant hours and canoe products, giving the visit a practical starting point.
Starfish Beach is a northern coastal name associated with this area. Sao Beach/Bãi Sao is a different destination in southern Phu Quoc. Leave starfish underwater and where you find them.

The village, the beach name and Hàm Rồng
Rạch Vẹm is a northern fishing settlement, with coastal restaurants and the starfish-associated shoreline drawing day visitors.

Rach Vem
The village name, Starfish Beach and Hàm Rồng often appear together in itineraries, but they do not describe one identical arrival point. Start by deciding whether you want lunch over the water, time on a particular shore or a boat journey to Hàm Rồng. A driver can take you to the village’s receiving business; a boat product has its own departure and return. Keeping those parts clear leaves more time to enjoy the scene rather than wandering between restaurant walkways looking for the beach in a photograph.
Choose the village meal or add a boat outing
A village visit and nhà bè lunch make a relaxed daylight outing.
Boats and wooden walkways before the beach photograph
The village’s appeal is in the overlap of work and visiting.
Fishing boats, nets and seafood businesses belong to the same bay where people arrive for lunch and a coastal day. Look along the walkways and back towards shore as well as out to sea; the different angles show how the platforms connect with village life. The scene is more textured than a row of resort loungers: timber, water, kitchen sounds and people carrying things between land and the bè. A meal lets you stay with that setting long enough to notice it. Even without a starfish sighting, the visit can still have a clear reason and a memorable centre.
The boat fare and the meal are different choices
The detailed canoe page reviewed on 18 October 2026 lists VND 180,000 return for the online 1–4 adult-ticket band.
The homepage’s “from VND 150,000” is a starting headline, not the price for every small party. Departures require four tickets; the latest published return is 17:30. Keep those product details together when budgeting. A separate food-and-canoe combo also exists, so ask for the named package rather than adding a meal assumption to a boat-only ticket. For lunch alone, the à-la-carte menu is another choice. You can enjoy Rạch Vẹm without buying a boat trip, or organise the meal around the boat you actually booked.
Let the living coast set the expectations
Starfish are living animals, not a permanent display.
Water clarity and sightings vary, and the northern coast can look different after rain. The most rewarding approach is to enjoy what is there: boats, the village, a seafood meal and the shoreline you have chosen. If you do see starfish, photograph them in place underwater. Lifting, arranging or passing them around turns the visit into the wrong kind of interaction. A northern day planned around more than a single photograph is also less fragile. There is still a village to experience when the sea is cloudy or the animals are not visible.
A village-led day with lunch in the middle
Arrive in daylight, take time around the receiving village area, then have lunch on the bè.
If Hàm Rồng is booked, place the meal before or after its agreed departure rather than guessing the sequence on arrival. Leave a comfortable margin for the road return. Khánh Hào’s restaurant publishes 08:00–17:30 hours, which fits a daylight visit rather than a late-night dinner. For families, a meal-only outing can be enough; for a group keen on the coastal boat journey, let that be the main activity. Grand World later is an optional second journey, not something required to finish a Rạch Vẹm visit.
A village with its own visitor history
The nhà bè businesses show another chapter in the village’s livelihood: receiving travellers alongside the fishing economy.
Khánh Hào dates its first guest service to 30 April 2016 in its own history. That is useful context for the platforms and kitchens you see today. Enjoy the place through the people and meal as well as the water. Gành Dầu offers another northern village-and-cape day; Rạch Tràm offers a river landscape. They deserve their own approaches and time. Rạch Vẹm works best when the village, food and chosen shore are allowed to tell one coherent story rather than becoming a hurried stop on a long northern checklist.
A concrete arrival at Nhà Bè Khánh Hào
Khánh Hào’s published route follows Suối Cái–Gành Dầu to the Ban Trị Sự Phật giáo Hòa Hảo Gành Dầu landmark, then the approach towards Rạch Vẹm.
At the sea, its directions say to turn left and continue to the receiving parking area before the border-post gate. Send the restaurant pin to the driver and use the business name, especially if a canoe is included in your booking. These are directions to that receiving business, not permission to enter the border post or an independent forest route. The final approach deserves daylight and an unhurried arrival. A return arranged with the same driver is useful when you have a meal and boat time to fit together.
The visit in three parts
Choose the receiving nhà bè, settle meal and boat products separately, and keep the road return in daylight.

Questions about Rach Vem
Is Rạch Vẹm the same as Sao Beach?
No. Rạch Vẹm is in the north; Sao Beach/Bãi Sao is in southern Phu Quoc. Starfish Beach is a different coastal name.
Can I visit just for lunch?
Yes. A village visit and nhà bè meal can stand alone. Hàm Rồng is an additional boat destination.
Which canoe fare should a small party budget for?
The detailed online 1–4 adult-ticket band reviewed on 18 October is VND 180,000 return. The lower “from” headline does not describe every group.
What is the published latest boat return?
Khánh Hào lists 17:30. Build the road return around the booked service, leaving time to reach the receiving area.
Will I definitely see starfish?
No. Sightings and water clarity vary. Keep village scenery and the meal part of the plan, and observe any starfish in place underwater.
How do I find the right nhà bè?
Send the exact business pin to your driver. Khánh Hào publishes its Suối Cái–Gành Dầu approach and a left turn at the sea to its receiving area.
