A northern shore visit without guaranteed sightings
Starfish Beach is the northern Rạch Vẹm/Hàm Rồng outing, not southern Sao Beach.
Beach guide · North coast
The first thing you notice at Rạch Vẹm may be a wooden platform, a fishing boat or lunch being carried across a nhà bè. The bright red starfish come later—if the water lets you see them. That contrast runs through our original articles: a living village beside a shoreline made famous by photographs. Plan for both, and the day has something to offer beyond a single picture.

Starfish Beach is the northern Rạch Vẹm/Hàm Rồng outing, not southern Sao Beach. Choose whether you want the village and lunch alone or an onward return boat to Hàm Rồng. We suggest a half-day including the road journey, boat time if booked, and an unhurried meal.
A sighting is not part of a ticket guarantee. Leave starfish underwater and in the place where you find them.

What it really feels like
The original English and Vietnamese accounts describe wooden platforms, fishing boats, nets and seafood kitchens beside the water.
Keep some time for that setting. A nhà bè is a place to sit, eat and look out across the village’s bay; it is not automatically the patch of water shown in a starfish photograph. “Starfish Beach” is used for several versions of the outing. Some stop at Rạch Vẹm, while others carry on by boat toward Hàm Rồng. A car dropping you at a restaurant has completed the road leg, not necessarily the whole trip you imagined.
Let the animal stay where it is. Look down before taking a step, keep fins and camera equipment clear, and leave starfish submerged. Get the lens closer to water level or use a longer view from the shore instead of lifting one into the frame. If a place is crowded with people posing beside wildlife, move to a quieter viewing position rather than helping to arrange the scene. The red shape against sand and water is the photograph worth keeping. Stacking starfish on dry sand or carrying them to a clearer patch removes the very setting you came to see.
Sunlight and clear water make it easier to see the bottom; rain, stirred sediment and waves can hide it. Our originals describe both beautiful clear days and disappointing murky ones, which is more useful than a promise of animals on every visit. The island’s drier November–April period is broad trip-planning context, not a daily starfish calendar. A fixed morning hour is not a tide forecast either. Put the village, the meal and the shore itself into the plan. Then a day without visible starfish is still a northern outing, rather than a long journey purchased for a guaranteed wildlife photograph.
Khánh Hào’s service page, updated 11 October 2026, lists adult return tickets at 180,000đ for 1–4 tickets, 170,000đ for 5–9 and 150,000đ from 10. These are that operator's advance-online group tiers, including VAT, not a universal beach fee. It lists a roughly ten-minute crossing each way, departures when four tickets are assembled and a final return at 17:30. Choose your road pickup after the return boat. The headline “from 150,000đ” does not apply to every couple, and buying fewer than four tickets does not promise an immediate private departure.
The food in our originals is straightforward: squid, fish, shellfish and a table over the water. For a cooked shared meal, we would start with steamed crab or squid, a fish dish and rice, then add according to the group’s appetite. Decide whether you are buying dishes separately or a named meal-and-boat package; the inclusions belong to the product, not every table at every nhà bè. Keep a dry layer for the car and the driver’s number saved. Late-afternoon wildlife viewing only works if it leaves time for both the boat back and the road home.

Northern Phu Quoc, Rach Vem / Ham Rong context
Head north from Dương Đông and set the actual receiving nhà bè as the destination. Khánh Hào describes the approach from Suối Cái–Gành Dầu road, turning toward the sea near Ban Trị Sự Phật giáo Hòa Hảo Gành Dầu, with about 1.9 km of dirt road at the end. That is this operator’s route, not a shared entrance to every shore. Keep the road pickup at the village separate from the boat return at Hàm Rồng.

FAQ
No. This outing is in the north around Rạch Vẹm and Hàm Rồng. Sao Beach is the separate sandy bay near An Thới in the south.
No. A village visit and meal can stand alone. A boat is a separate part of an itinerary to Hàm Rồng; specify which shore and product you want.
The published Khánh Hào online tiers depend on adult-ticket count. The lowest tier starts at ten adult tickets; a party of two falls into the 1–4 tier.
You can still enjoy the village waterfront and a seafood meal. Do not buy a promise that a boat fare guarantees visible animals or clear water.
Keep it underwater and in place. Change your camera angle instead, and watch where you step while looking at the screen.
After your agreed return to the village, allowing time to change and collect belongings. The cited operator’s last boat return is 17:30; that is not the time to begin an unplanned extra beach stop.
