For a performance, plan around that show’s entrance. For Hòn Thơm, treat the cable car as the daytime outing and the town as the return-evening stop.
Phu Quoc areas
Sunset Town: hillside streets, Kiss Bridge and an evening by the sea
Sunset Town is best seen on the way down. Start among the warm-coloured façades on the hillside, follow the views towards the water and reach the promenade as the afternoon light softens. The sea stays in the picture throughout. By evening, the same waterfront becomes a place for dinner, performances and the slow walk back through the lit streets.

Does this area fit your trip?
Sunset Town is Sun Group’s Mediterranean-inspired waterfront district in southern Phu Quoc, beside An Thới. Come in the afternoon for the hillside architecture and Kiss Bridge, then stay for dinner or a show. Walking through the town is free; the bridge, cable car and ticketed performances are separate experiences.
October 2026 programme note: Symphony of the Sea season 3 is announced for November. It is not an October nightly-show promise.

Sunset Town
Sun Group developed it as a Mediterranean-inspired destination, with coloured façades, terraces, stairways and open views of the bay. It is a modern district, not an inherited European settlement. That is part of its story: a working southern coastline has acquired a new layer of architecture and entertainment. An Thới’s harbour and everyday streets remain a different part of the south, while Sunset Town concentrates the photo walks, waterfront venues and large evening productions. The wider development arrived in stages, so a single “town opening year” is less useful than its landmarks. One clear milestone is 22 December 2023, when Kiss Bridge was inaugurated on the waterfront.
Choose an afternoon, a show night or a cable-car day
For architecture and sunset, give the town an afternoon and dinner.
Read the town from the hillside down
The hillside is what makes Sunset Town different from Grand World’s canal district in the north.
Here, the buildings step down towards the sea, and a small change in height changes the view. Look for the clock tower as an orientation point, then move through the streets and openings towards the waterfront. The Sun Signature Gallery adds another architectural stop, while the promenade gives you space to see the whole composition from below. Do the higher streets first if photographs are a priority, then finish lower down instead of repeatedly climbing back for one more viewpoint. The stairs are part of the scenery but also part of the walking effort. A shorter waterfront route is more comfortable for a group with a stroller or someone who does not want repeated climbs.
Kiss Bridge: the story behind the gap
Kiss Bridge was designed by Italian architect Marco Casamonti and unveiled on 22 December 2023.
Its two approaching arms stop short of touching, leaving a 30-centimetre gap. The developer connects the design with Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam and the Vietnamese story of Ngưu Lang and Chức Nữ. Knowing that gives the photograph a little more meaning than simply standing at the most recognisable landmark in town. You can appreciate the bridge’s outline from the waterfront; entering the bridge itself is a separate ticketed visit. Walking through Sunset Town does not require buying every attraction around it. Choose the bridge if being on the structure is important to you, and keep the promenade as the simple option for the wider sea-and-architecture view.
Kiss of the Sea and Symphony are different shows
Kiss of the Sea is the large multimedia production associated with the waterfront theatre; Symphony of the Sea is the water-performance programme with jet skis and flyboards.
Similar names make them easy to confuse when choosing an evening. A restaurant view over the bay is also different from a seat facing the full theatre production. For the current October 2026 planning window, Sun World has announced Symphony’s third season for November. That makes dinner and a town walk the dependable structure of an October evening, with a separately selected performance added to it. Rather than building the whole visit around an assumed fireworks time, choose a specific show and its admission arrangement. The dedicated show guides carry the programme detail; this area guide helps fit that choice into the town.
A route from afternoon light to dinner
Start with a coffee and the upper streets, then work down towards the promenade and Kiss Bridge before sunset.
Keep dinner on the waterfront side so you do not spend the best evening light crossing the district in a car. Vui Phết is the market-style option for browsing food and continuing a walk; Sun Bavaria GastroPub is a named waterfront restaurant for a longer sit-down meal. The latter’s view over the bay is part of its appeal, so choose it for that setting rather than assuming every table includes a show ticket. After dinner, follow the plan you actually want: a ticketed performance, a drink or another walk through the lit streets. The original Phu Quoc Times evening article captures this transition well: the town is enjoyable as an evening out, not only as a queue of attractions.
Pair it with Hòn Thơm, An Thới or Khem
The strongest combinations stay in the south.
Hòn Thơm by cable car followed by Sunset Town makes a coherent full day, provided the town walk begins after the return journey. A quieter alternative is Khem beach and then the town for dinner. An Thới gives another contrast: its harbour and ordinary streets show the working south beside the designed waterfront. Choose one of these daytime partners rather than trying to collect all three before a show. Grand World belongs to another evening in the northwest. Keeping those districts separate saves a cross-island transfer and lets you appreciate what is distinctive here: the hillside opening towards the sea, the bridge silhouetted against the bay and the way the lights gradually take over after sunset.
Use the right arrival point in the south
A driver needs to know whether you are going to the cable-car terminal, a restaurant, Kiss Bridge or the show entrance.
Those destinations share the district but are not interchangeable drop-off points, especially once stairs and the slope are involved. From Dương Đông or the Long Beach corridor, make Sunset Town the southern part of your day rather than a quick detour between northern attractions. If you are riding the Hòn Thơm cable car, start at the terminal and leave the town walk for after the return. If you are only coming for the evening, a drop-off near your first walking stop avoids carrying the whole group through the cable-car complex unnecessarily. Arrange the return around a road-accessible landmark, not merely the waterside spot where you finish taking photographs.
The useful order
Upper streets first, waterfront before sunset, dinner nearby, then the performance or evening walk you chose.
Keep the pickup point at road level.

Questions about Sunset Town
Is Sunset Town free to enter?
There is no general ticket for walking through the town. Kiss Bridge, the Hòn Thơm cable car and ticketed shows are separate products, so choose only the experiences you want.
When was Kiss Bridge built and opened?
Kiss Bridge was inaugurated on 22 December 2023. Marco Casamonti designed its two arms with a 30-centimetre gap, drawing on The Creation of Adam and the story of Ngưu Lang and Chức Nữ.
What time should I arrive for a town visit?
Come during the afternoon if you want the architecture in daylight and the waterfront at sunset. Leave time for the sloping streets before dinner rather than arriving at the last moment for a show.
Is Symphony of the Sea running in October 2026?
The announcement published on 15 October schedules season 3’s return for November. Do not treat older nightly schedules as the October programme; the November return is the current announced position.
Can I combine the cable car and Sunset Town?
Yes. Make Hòn Thơm the daytime visit, return to the terminal, then begin the town walk and dinner. The cable-car trip and waterfront attractions still have their own admission arrangements.
Is the walk suitable for a stroller?
The hillside route includes slopes and stairs, so do not assume a continuous step-free walk. A shorter waterfront visit with a nearby drop-off is easier than repeatedly climbing between photo spots.
