Khem: the curved bay, a coastal meal and a slower southern day

Khem is a reason to stop moving around the south for a while. The bay curves around pale sand, palms and resort grounds, with a meal beside the water giving the afternoon a natural centre. Come for that setting rather than trying to squeeze the bay between a boat trip and a show. Its best moments are often the ones with enough time to sit down.

Khem is the southern resort-bay area beside An Thới. Choose a coastal meal and time by the shore, with Premier Residences’ Clubhouse and JW Marriott’s restaurants providing named dining options. Sunset Town is an easy regional partner for a separate evening; the Hòn Thơm cable car is a different daytime outing.

Choose the restaurant or property entrance for arrival. A dining visit, beach facilities and a hotel day-use package are different arrangements.

Location on the island

A bay with its own rhythm in the south

Khem belongs to the southern part of Phu Quoc near An Thới, but it offers a different day from the working town or the cable-car departure.

Khem Beach

The curved shore and the properties around it encourage time in one place. Choose Khem when the meal, bay and coastal setting are the main interests. Sunset Town’s hillside streets and waterfront shows are another destination, while Hòn Thơm is an island outing. These places can share a southern itinerary without all being compulsory in the same afternoon. The area guide helps choose how to spend the time around the bay; the separate beach guide goes into the shore itself.

A bay afternoon or a restaurant visit

Choose a slower coastal afternoon, a family meal or a named resort restaurant.

  1. Give a full island activity day its own time.

The bay is the setting, not a quick photo stop

The English and Vietnamese originals both return to the same physical detail: the curve of sand framed by trees and resort grounds.

That is more useful than a ranking of the world’s prettiest beaches. A long lunch, a coffee and time looking along the bay give the place a shape you can actually enjoy. Notice how the buildings sit behind the shore rather than only photographing the water. Khem has a resort character, and the dining choices reflect it. A visitor can appreciate that for one afternoon without making the bay the base for the whole holiday.

Clubhouse: a named coastal meal with published hours

Clubhouse at Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay publishes service from 10:00 to 23:00, with last orders at 22:30.

It offers separate food, drink and children’s menus, reviewed on 18 October 2026. That makes it a concrete option when a mixed group wants a meal rather than a general search for “somewhere near Khem”. Reserve the restaurant and discuss the table and group needs with its team. Pool use, loungers and other resort facilities belong to a separate arrangement. For a beach-and-lunch afternoon, settle what the visit includes at that one point, then let the rest of the afternoon be about the bay.

The university on the bay is a design story

JW Marriott Phu Quoc adds an unusual layer to Khem: Bill Bensley’s design imagines a French university called Lamarck.

The academic departments and campus-like details belong to that fictional concept, not a real nineteenth-century university history. Knowing the distinction makes the visit more interesting because you can enjoy the playful architecture on its own terms. For a dining-led visit, French & Co. provides the café-and-pastry idea, while Tempus Fugit serves Vietnamese and international cooking. Choose and reserve the restaurant you want rather than treating the hotel grounds as an unrestricted public sightseeing site.

Lunch at Khem, evening at Sunset Town

A suggested southern day can be as simple as arriving at Khem for lunch, staying with the coastal setting and moving to Sunset Town in the late afternoon.

Keep enough time there for the hillside or waterfront before dinner. If the meal at Khem is the main event, you can also stay longer and skip the second destination. A Hòn Thơm water-park day is a different plan and usually deserves its own daytime hours. The point is to preserve what made you choose the bay: a place to settle, not a meal squeezed between two timed departures.

Let the food add another layer to the coast

The original Khem article goes beyond the view with herring salad wrapped in rice paper and herbs, grilled fish and sea urchin with scallion oil.

Those are island-food ideas to look for on the menu, not a claim that every Khem restaurant serves all three. Choose one preparation that interests you, then build a balanced table around it. A family may prefer the clearer menu choices at a resort restaurant; another group may come for a particular seafood dish. Either way, the meal gives the afternoon more substance than a quick look at pale sand. That is the most useful way to bring the bay into a southern visit.

Use the entrance that receives your visit

Give your driver the restaurant or property name, not simply “Khem beach”.

For an outside dining visit, the restaurant team can direct you to the receiving gate and table. This is particularly helpful when the plan includes children, a stroller or a group arriving in separate cars. Keep the return at the same recognisable entrance unless continuing to Sunset Town. There is no need to discover a route through another hotel to reach your meal. If you mainly want beach time rather than dining, choose the shore approach through the beach guide before setting out. The purpose determines the arrival, rather than the other way around.

Choose a coastal setting and give it time

Reserve the receiving restaurant, settle facilities separately, and choose either a longer Khem afternoon or an onward Sunset Town evening.

    Questions about Khem Beach

What kind of visit suits Khem?

A coastal meal and a slower bay afternoon. It works well as its own southern stop rather than a quick gap between two full activities.

    What hours does Clubhouse publish?

10:00–23:00, last orders at 22:30, with separate food, drink and children’s menus. The reference was reviewed on 18 October 2026.

Was Lamarck a real university here?

The resort’s Lamarck University is a fictional design concept by Bill Bensley. Enjoy it as themed architecture rather than a historical campus.

What are the named JW Marriott dining choices?

French & Co. for the café-and-pastry idea, and Tempus Fugit for Vietnamese and international cooking. Arrange a restaurant visit with the property.

Does a meal include resort facilities?

Not automatically. Dining, pool use, loungers and day-use products can be separate arrangements.

What is a coherent nearby combination?

Khem for lunch and coastal time, then Sunset Town for late-afternoon views and dinner. Give Hòn Thơm its own day when island activities are the priority.
